Rousselot has launched Nextida NxCogni, which it calls "the first targeted collagen peptide ingredient" aimed at supporting clarity and cognitive resilience.
The new product combines more than ten neurosupportive peptides together at concentrations exceeding 100 times those found in standard hydrolysed collagen.
The ingredient aims to support neuroprotective benefits and is designed for use in dietary supplements; plus, it has a low daily dose, making it straightforward for manufacturers to incorporate into capsules and tablets.
“NxCogni is the latest example of how Darling Ingredients is redefining what collagen can do,” said Randall C. Stuewe, Chair and CEO of Darling Ingredients.
Through our proprietary innovation platform, we are building a growing portfolio of collagen peptide ingredients that target specific, science-backed benefits.
"Each new addition to the Nextida family expands our understanding of collagen's potential and reinforces our leadership in creating the next generation of nutritional solutions derived from natural collagen."
The firm, part of Darling Ingredients, created the ingredient using its Nextida platform.
The platform has already supported the launch of Rousselot's flagship Nextida GC ingredient, which supports the body’s natural GLP-1 response to help maintain healthy post-meal blood glucose levels.
The new ingredient is also non-stimulant, with the company leaning into the low/no stimulant trend that has driven a major shift in the modern wellness landscape.
Driven by consumers managing burnout, evening gym routines, or jitter-sensitivities, the market has been rapidly expanding around these non-stimulant alternatives.
Rousselot said clinical trials for the new ingredient are planned to begin in December, with results expected to confirm strong preclinical research.
“Many products on the market today rely on stimulants to provide a brief energy spike, but Nextida NxCogni is built differently,” said Jeroen Colpaert, Executive Vice President at Rousselot.
By working with the brain’s natural pathways rather than acting as a stimulant, NxCogni is a natural-derived, evidence-based ingredient dedicated to supporting sustained focus and cognitive resilience.
Rousselot will feature Nextida NxCogni at SupplySide Global in Las Vegas, Oct. 28-30, at booth 4443.
