Flavourings specialist Synergy Flavours will be highlighting its flavour development technology and portfolio at this year's Vitafoods Europe (5-7 May), alongside its parent company, whey protein ingredient specialist Carbery.
The pair will focus on concepts that appeal to the healthy ageing, energy boost, women's health and GLP-companion sectors.
The brand will display several new solutions, including a new blueberry and banana flavoured smoothie concept that blends Carbery's Optipep hydrolysed whey protein and Carbelac whey protein concentrate, marketed towards the healthy ageing space.
With energy maintenance remaining a key trend, the brands added that they would also showcase a range of protein coffees, available as hot and cold drinks, using blends of Carbery's whey proteins to provide a natural caffeine lift alongside a protein boost to support energy, focus and overall wellness.
Another concept available to explore at the show will be a strawberry cheesecake flavoured bar designed specifically to support women's health.
This bar is enriched with Optipep hydrolysed whey protein, Carbelac whey protein concentrate and Isolac whey protein isolate, along with essential vitamins and minerals for strength, muscle support, bone health, energy and hormone regulation, making it a convenient on-the-go option.
Also on display will be a raspberry and passionfruit soda that promotes gut health. High in fibre and free of added sweeteners, colourings, or acids, Synergy said the concept uses fruit juices and taste-modulation technology for natural sweetness.
The rising popularity of GLP-1 medications and awareness of their side effects have created opportunities for food and beverage products that enhance satiety and boost protein intake.
A "GLP-1 companion drink" featuring whey protein, vitamins and minerals can support muscle maintenance and strength and will be available at the booth, in an appealing elderflower, lime and mint flavour.
Additionally, Synergy is introducing a high-protein, high-fibre, low-fat chocolate pudding with essential nutrients.
Innova reports that "Powerhouse Protein" will be a top trend for 2026, as nearly 60% of global consumers seek to increase their protein intake for overall health and to complement GLP-1 weight-loss medications.
This emphasises the need for manufacturers to incorporate higher protein levels into their products without sacrificing taste or texture.
Chris Whiting, Business Development Manager for Nutrition at Synergy Flavours, said: "The global appetite for protein-enriched food and drink products is accelerating and consumers across all sectors expect an enhanced eating and drinking experience that moves far beyond the chalky texture and flavour compromises once associated with protein fortification."
"As consumers become more sophisticated in their nutritional needs, they are targeting health and wellness in different ways – some consumers are more aware of targeting specific nutrients for healthy ageing, for example, while GLP-1 users are making big dietary changes to maintain a balanced diet whilst using the medication."
Being able to predict consumer trends and offer products that meet these specific demographics’ needs is key to successful new product development.
"Working closely with Carbery means we combine their heritage in premium whey protein ingredients with our expertise in taste modulation technology to deliver high functionality in a great-tasting product."
"We are excited to bring new flavour concepts to Vitafoods that align directly with consumer needs."
