Kaneka Corporation has been awarded the Ingredient of the Year: Healthspan Award at the NutraIngredients-Asia Awards 2026 for its Kaneka Ubiquinol ingredient.
The award marks the firm's third consecutive recognition at the NutraIngredients-Asia Awards, after winning Healthy Ageing Ingredient of the Year in 2024 and being a finalist for the Innovation in Women's Health Award in 2025.
Kaneka said the award came at a "pivotal time" for healthcare, with attention increasingly shifting beyond lifespan towards healthspan and maintaining health and wellbeing throughout life.
Mitochondria are fundamental to cellular energy production and found in almost every cell in the body.
The endogenous antioxidant Ubiquinol supports energy production in the mitochondria and helps reduce cellular free-radical damage.
This growing "mitoceutical" category — nutraceuticals purpose-formulated to support mitochondrial function — is becoming a central pillar in healthspan science.
Kaneka is the sole global manufacturer of clinically researched bioidentical Ubiquinol, which it manufactures via a Japanese natural fermentation process.
