Perelel study finds metabolic and cognitive benefits from triple-support protein

A new trial in women aged 30-60 found significant improvements in cholesterol, fullness and spatial memory following daily supplementation with Perelel’s Triple-Support Protein

Perelel has announced positive clinical trial results for its Triple-Support Protein, a three-in-one formulation combining plant-based protein, creatine monohydrate and low-FODMAP prebiotic fibre, with the study reporting benefits across metabolic and cognitive health in midlife women.

The randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study involved 39 women aged 30-60, with an average age of 46, who took either Triple-Support Protein or a placebo daily for four weeks.

The results

According to Perelel, participants taking the formulation experienced statistically significant reductions in total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol, despite levels already being within the normal range.

The study also reported increased feelings of fullness and improved performance on a spatial memory test compared with placebo.

The findings provide formula-level clinical evidence for the combination of ingredients, rather than relying solely on research into the individual components.

Perelel said the formulation was designed to target complementary areas of women's health.

Plant-based protein provides support for muscle health and satiety, while creatine monohydrate is associated with muscle strength and power and has also been investigated for its potential role in cognitive health.

Low-FODMAP prebiotic fibre is included to support digestive and metabolic health.

Multi-functional, single formula

For formulators and ingredient suppliers, the study reflects growing interest in multi-functional nutrition products that combine ingredients to address several health priorities within a single formulation.

"We've always believed women deserve nutrition that is built around the science of their bodies—not a one-size-fits-all approach," said Victoria Thain Gioia, co-founder of Perelel.

"This study takes that philosophy a step further by testing the complete formula in the women it was designed to serve."

We're building a body of clinical evidence that can help raise the standard for what science-backed women's health nutrition looks like.

The company added that this trial would form part of a wider programme of product-specific clinical research.

Perelel has already completed placebo-controlled trials during the past year covering its Conception Support Pack, Synbiotic Greens Powder and Perimenopause Support Pack.

The firm also highlighted its use of third-party testing and certifications, with Triple-Support Protein holding NSF Certification and receiving Clean Label Project Purity Awards.

The company said that its approach is intended to strengthen the evidence base for women's health nutrition by testing finished formulations in the populations they are designed to serve, rather than relying exclusively on ingredient-level research.
