Nammex showcases its functional mushroom ingredients at SupplySide West

Published: 11-Oct-2024

The company will display its range of functional mushrooms, as well as its mushroom-based nutraceuticals, so visitors can find out more

Nammex will be exhibiting at this year's SupplySide West, bringing its functional mushrooms to the table.

The nutraceutical event, which will be held in Las Vegas from October 30–31, will bring together those in the functional ingredient and nutritional spaces.

Attendees will have ample opportunity to discover the latest innovations in the field, while also networking with their peers.

In addition to the company's line of organic mushroom extracts, Nammex will be displaying its mushroom-based functional ingredients, which are specifically cultivated to have a better nutritional value.

Nammex's COO, Bill Chioffi, will also contribute to an educational session about functional mushrooms at the event.

The talk, named "Functional mushrooms: sources standards, species and science", will be held on Tuesday October 29 at 13:00 to 15:45 in the Islander Ballroom C.

CEO of Nammex, Skye Chilton, commented: “Continued escalation in demand for a number of mushrooms, such as Lion’s mane and
Turkey tail, makes those ingredients vulnerable to demand exceeding supply of quality ingredients, and targets for adulteration,”

“Nammex has been focused on expanding our pioneering cultivation programs of key mushrooms, and we are well positioned to meet our customer’s needs with high quality material. But this is the time to talk about forecasting, so brands can make sure they have access to enough high-quality material from suppliers they have vetted.”

What's on display?

ErgoGold

Ergothioneine, a food-derived antioxidant, can be found in high amounts in certain species of fungi.

ErgoGold is a powdered golden oyster mushroom (Pleurotus citrinopileatus) extract that — according to Nammex — delivers a therapeutic dose of Ergo, plus:

  • Beta-glucans
  • Ergosterol
  • Insoluble/soluble fibre
  • Secondary metabolites

MycoD2

MycoD2 is a vitamin D source derived from mushrooms, which is sourced by utilising pulsed UV light technology.

This exposure to UV light technology converts the fungal sterol ergosterol into bioavailable vitamin D2.

According to Nammex, the nutraceutical is ideal for consumers seeking a wholefood or vegan source that can provide the daily recommended intake of vitamin D.
