TriNutra's ThymoQuin-OCare shows oral and gingival benefits in new study

The black seed-derived ingredient showed improvements in dental plaque accumulation and gingival bleeding through modulation of the microbiome in newly published research, adding to the already established scientific backing for the product

The botanical ingredient company TriNutra has announced the publication of a new human clinical study evaluating its patented ThymoQuin-OCare for oral health support.

The research found supplementation with the company's black seed-derived ingredient led to benefits across plaque accumulation, gingival health and oral microbiome balance.

This new study builds on previous research and demonstrates that ThymoQuin-OCare has the following benefits:

  • suppresses microbial overgrowth and reduces acid formation
  • supports reductions in plaque and tartar accumulation
  • and promotes fresher breath while supporting gum and dental health.

Gingival inflammation and an imbalanced oral microbiome can lead to increased acid production and tooth demineralisation, both of which are significant contributors to oral health issues.

Traditional oral hygiene primarily targets plaque and harmful bacteria through brushing, flossing and the use of antimicrobial products.

However, recent advances have led to increased interest in supplementary approaches.

The study evaluated ThymoQuin-OCare's safety and effectiveness as an oral health lozenge during a 28-day period. Researchers tracked dental and gingival health, as well as microbial shifts during supplementation.

Improvements in dental plaque accumulation and gingival bleeding were also observed, with the Gingival Index decreasing by 14%.

Sixety-seven per cent of participants showed measurable reductions in gingival inflammation and all participants demonstrated at least one measurable positive outcome during the study period.

In addition, analysis of the oral microbiota showed that 89% of participants had an increase in the Shannon Diversity Index. The product promoted the growth of beneficial (commensal) microflora, with no pathogenic microflora growth observed before or after application.

Between 67% and 78% of participants reported fresher, longer-lasting breath and 89% observed visible improvements in gum appearance, tooth cleanliness and overall oral wellness.

"The oral microbiome plays a central role in maintaining gum health, immune function and barrier integrity," said Morris Zelkha, CEO of TriNutra.

We are thrilled that the research findings suggest ThymoQuin-OCare supports optimal oral hygiene and a healthier mouth.
