Stratum Nutrition’s OVOLUX wins 2026 Ingredient Choice Award for Nutri-Beauty

The firm’s upcycled eggshell membrane ingredient OVOLUX has been recognised by WholeFoods Magazine, following new Canadian skin health claims earlier this year

Stratum Nutrition’s OVOLUX eggshell membrane ingredient has been named the 2026 Ingredient Choice Award winner in the Nutri-Beauty category by WholeFoods Magazine.

The ingredient is derived from upcycled eggshell membrane and provides a naturally occurring matrix containing collagen types I, V and X, alongside elastin, hyaluronic acid, calcium, keratin and sulfur-containing amino acids.

According to Stratum, a 12-week randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled human study found that daily supplementation with OVOLUX at 400 mg was associated with improvements in measures including skin elasticity, firmness, plumpness and hydration around the eye area.

The study also reported improvements in the appearance of crow’s feet and fine lines, as well as findings relating to hair texture and nail health.

Low-dose formulation proposition

The 400 mg daily serving could give supplement manufacturers an alternative to the multi-gram serving sizes associated with conventional collagen ingredients.

Stratum says OVOLUX can be incorporated into capsules, powders, gummies and beverages, giving formulators flexibility across different delivery formats.

Its eggshell membrane origin also positions the ingredient within the growing upcycled nutrition space, using a byproduct of the egg industry as the raw material for a functional ingredient.

The award also follows further regulatory progress for OVOLUX in 2026.

In June, Health Canada authorised multiple skin health claims for the ingredient, including claims relating to skin hydration, elasticity, firmness and overall skin health.
