GC Rieber VivoMega to highlight $20m supply chain expansion at SupplySide Global

The Norwegian omega-3 producer highlights algal and marine source diversification alongside live Omega-3 Index testing at booth #4152 — positioning supply chain resilience as the category's key long-term challenge

Omega-3 concentrate producer GC Rieber VivoMega has announced it will attend this year's SupplySide Global show in Las Vegas, where it will highlight how diversification can create a more resilient future for the ingredient.

The company will be at Booth #4152 from October 28-30.

“[During] our 60-year history, we have seen the omega-3 industry evolve and have continually adapted to meet changing market needs,” said Snorre Glærum Strand, CEO at GC Rieber VivoMega.

"We understand the immediate challenges facing the industry, but we are also looking ahead."

Our experience allows us to respond to the needs of today while continuing to invest in the technology, capacity and solutions that will support the omega-3 category for years to come.

The Norwegian company expanded into the algal omega-3 category back in 2023, launching its portfolio of non-GMO, certified vegan algae oils to provide an alternative to established marine sources of EPA and DHA.

GC Rieber VivoMega said that its broad algal portfolio offers manufacturers additional sourcing and formulation options, but the firm will continue to diversify and expand its omega-3 offerings.

Thus, as part of a long-term approach to supply-chain resilience, the company announced an additional $20m investment, building on the 2024 expansion of its omega-3 manufacturing campus in Norway.

The company did not specify how it would use the funding in its manufacturing operations, but said it would go toward "strengthening production capabilities across both fish and algal omega-3 concentrates."

Snorre explained: “The future of omega-3s isn't just about supply; it’s about building a supply chain resilient enough for a changing world.”

At the SupplySide Global show, GC Rieber VivoMega will also highlight its new partnership with OmegaQuant, an independent, CLIA-certified lab that offers Omega-3 Index testing to researchers, clinicians and the public.

At the company's booth, attendees can participate in free Omega-3 Index testing and receive VivoMega algal omega-3 samples. Participants can test their omega-3 levels before supplementation and again following the sampling period, providing a before-and-after look at changes in their Omega-3 Index.
