Sabinsa fosters new botanical and probiotic research collaborations with academic institutes

The company is expanding its partnerships with local academic institutes to research and develop probiotic and botanical functional ingredients

Sabinsa, a nutraceutical ingredients supplier, has taken steps to collaborate with scientific research institutions on new projects. 

The company’s CEO and Managing Director, Shaheen Mated, has met with institutions operating in the Indian state of Karnataka to foster potential collaborations and partnerships.

Mr Majeed met with Gandhi Krishi Vignam Kendra (GKVK), the Vice Chancellor of the University of Mysore and the University of Agricultural Sciences, to explore pathways for joint research projects, technology transfers and internship programmes.

At the University of Mysore, Sabinsa discussed the potential to conduct research centring around probiotics and synthetic chemistry in tandem.

At the University of Agricultural Sciences in Bangalore, the potential for research and development partnerships were discussed, with the main focus being functional botanicals.

The company also had discussions with Farmer Producer Organisations (FPO), with the intention of the securing the livelihood of farmers and provide business access to superior quality medicinal raw materials.

“We are excited to embark on these valuable research collaborations with key academic institutes, which is particularly meaningful to me given my father’s deep commitment to this level of research,” said Mr. Majeed.

“Through our collective efforts, we can make a profound impact on the sector, our community through cultivation programmes and, more importantly, support the next generation of researchers in having access to industry expertise.”
