Dr. Anju Majeed welcomes Maldivian president at the India-Maldives Business Forum

Forum aims to strengthen bilateral ties and explore investment opportunities

Dr. Anju Majeed, Executive Chairperson, Sami-Sabinsa Group, and Co-Chair, Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) Karnataka State Development Council, welcomed His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, President of the Republic of Maldives, at a recent India-Maldives Business Forum held in Bangalore.

India and the Maldives have traditionally enjoyed strong bilateral ties. The goal of the forum was to strengthen these long-standing ties and enhance regional cooperation. The delegation from the Maldives highlighted key sectors for potential investment in the country and welcomed the business leaders in Karnataka to take advantage of opportunities in the region.

Led by H.E. Dr. Muizzu, the forum was represented by a senior delegation from the Maldives, including Mr. Mohamed Saeed, Honorable Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Government of the Republic of Maldives; Mr. Moosa Zameer, Honorable Minister of Finance, Government of the Republic of Maldives; and Mr. Munu Mahawar, High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Maldives. Corporate heads from the State of Karnataka and representatives of leading industry bodies in India, including ASSOCHAM, CII, and FICCI, attended the forum to explore avenues for mutual development.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Anju Majeed said: “ASSOCHAM remains deeply committed to solidifying bilateral economic relations between India and the Maldives. Through platforms like this, we continue to work closely with government and industry leaders and create new opportunities for trade, investment, and business collaboration. ASSOCHAM will focus on fostering partnerships that will drive growth and contribute to the shared prosperity of both nations.”

At a separate “Select Industry Business Roundtable” meeting with H.E. Dr. Muizzu and the delegates from the Maldives, Dr. Anju Majeed shared her keen interest in working with the Maldives and stated that the Sami-Sabinsa Group will investigate ways to collaborate in the domains of academia and business that would yield mutually beneficial outcomes.
