Nordmann to distribute Nutriearth’s natural vitamin D3 ingredient, N-utra, across Central and Eastern Europe, the DACH region, the Benelux, and France

Nutriearth, an innovator in the production of natural and sustainable vitamin D3 from bioresources, is taking the next step in its international development by signing a new distribution agreement with Nordmann.

This collaboration will strengthen Nutriearth’s presence across Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Belarus, Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia, Slovakia, Serbia, Croatia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Moldova, Albania, and Kosovo.

Through this partnership, Nordmann will support Nutriearth in expanding access to N-utra, its innovative natural vitamin D3 ingredient, to local food manufacturers, helping them to develop healthier and more sustainable products that meet consumer expectations for transparency, functionality and natural nutrition.

With these new partnerships, we are accelerating the global availability of N-utra and strengthening our local presence in key European markets

“Nordmann’s deep market expertise and strong relationships with manufacturers make them an ideal partner to help us bring natural vitamin D3 innovation to more consumers across Europe,” said Thomas Dormigny, Co-founder and Chief Customer Officer of Nutriearth.

A next-generation source of natural vitamin D3

N-utra is a functional flour made from Tenebrio molitor (the mealworm), naturally rich in essential nutrients such as proteins, B-vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Thanks to Nutriearth’s patented biomimetic method, which replicates the body’s own synthesis of vitamin D3, N-utra is also a natural, sustainable and highly bioavailable source of vitamin D3. Its proven bioavailability ensures effective absorption by the body, helping to support optimal health.

Manufacturers can easily incorporate N-utra into everyday consumer products (bread, compotes, pasta, biscuits) to provide consumers with natural and effective vitamin D3, which supports bone and dental health, muscle capital and immune function, thereby meeting essential nutritional needs.

Nutriearth has already collaborated with a biscuit manufacturer to create unique madeleines that combine enjoyment and nutritional benefits. For example, one madeleine prepared with N-utra provides 25% of the recommended daily intake of vitamin D3.

These formulations do not alter the taste, texture, or appearance of the finished products, offering a perfect balance of pleasure and health.

Studies also show that Nutriearth’s vitamin D3 is absorbed up to 3.3 times better than lanolin-derived D3 and twice as well as lichen-based D3. An environmental life-cycle assessment by Sapiologie demonstrated 76.8 percent lower greenhouse-gas emissions and an eightfold reduction in total environmental impact compared with lanolin-derived D3.

N-utra provides a simple, natural and sustainable solution to develop products that are functional, appealing, and accessible.

Strengthening presence across Europe

The new distribution agreement with Nordmann, a recognised European leader in the distribution of health, nutrition and specialty ingredients, will allow Nutriearth to expand its footprint across key European territories and strengthen support for local food manufacturers.

“We are proud to partner with Nutriearth to bring N-utra to our customers across Europe,” said Ulla Seidel, Global Sales Director Life Sciences at Nordmann. “This innovative ingredient perfectly aligns with our strategy to deliver sustainable and science-driven solutions to the food and nutrition industries. With N-utra, we can help manufacturers create products that combine naturality, functionality and consumer appeal.”

A simple, sustainable way to innovate

N-utra offers a practical and sustainable route to differentiation. By incorporating up to 4 percent N-utra into a recipe, food producers can:

  • Reposition their offering in the health and nutrition segment
  • Make nutritional and health claims related to vitamin D3
  • Meet growing consumer demand for healthier, transparent and functional products
  • Increase added value

All production is carried out entirely in France, ensuring exceptional quality, traceability and a secure local supply of vitamin D3. For European producers, this reduces reliance on imports from China and India, which currently account for 99.9 percent of global vitamin D3 supply.

Building momentum ahead of Fi Europe 2025

These new partnerships come just weeks before Fi Europe 2025 (2–4 December, Paris), where Nutriearth will present N-utra and Nutra-oil, its natural vitamin D3 concentrate for dietary supplements. Both ingredients highlight the company’s mission to redefine how vitamin D3 is sourced and integrated into foods for a healthier and more sustainable future.

“With these new partnerships, we are helping food manufacturers develop the next generation of functional products,” added Jeremy Burks, CEO of Nutriearth. “N-utra makes it simple to enrich everyday foods with natural vitamin D3 and essential nutrients, supporting both consumer well-being and the food industry’s shift toward more sustainable innovation.”
