The taste modulation platform can help mask off-notes, promote sweetness of balance flavours in food and beverage products

HealthTech BioActives has announced its plans to debut OptiTaste at IFT FIRST 2025.

The citrus flavonoid specialist can be found at booth S3046, where the team will be on hand to demonstrate how OptiTaste can enhance food and beverage prototypes; offering sweetness, balance and masking solutions.

The platform is specifically designed to overcome formulation challenges associated with off-notes, mouthfeel and bitterness, while reducing the need for added sugar.

Built on HTBA’s global expertise in flavonoid-based taste modulation technologies, the one-stop OptiTaste platform spotlights natural origin taste modulation solutions, including a selection of Upcycled Certified ingredients.

The innovation platform features:

  • OptiTaste Sweetness: A solution designed to optimise overall sweetness profiles while reducing the need for added sugar
  • OptiTaste Balance: Crafted to improve mouthfeel and finetune bitterness, harshness, flavour top-notes and overall savoury/spicy flavour profiles
  • OptiTaste Masking: For F&B manufacturers who need to suppress astringency and mask bitterness, off-notes and aftertastes

Attendees are invited to taste the difference, with samples available to try on HTBA's booth, including an OptiTaste Balance salted caramel smart energy popcorn containing caffeine and B12.

Attendees can also join HTBA’s Happy Hour events from 4-5pm on 14-15 July, where they’ll be treated to “lime and gin” tonic and “old fashioned” mocktails, featuring OptiTaste natural flavors and naringin solutions.

The company’s booth will feature exclusive prototypes of its pioneering MecobalActive vitamin B12 for cognitive and physical performance too, such as a new chewable tablet.

“Our goal is to create unforgettable taste experiences inspired by nature, while championing true ingredient transparency and a comprehensive, customer-centric approach to making delicious food and beverage products people can truly savor,” explained Paula Morrison, Director of Applications at HTBA.

“Combining more than 45 years of citrus flavonoid expertise with quality European manufacturing and comprehensive supply chain capabilities – from field to plant – we’ve taken food and beverage taste problem-solving to the next level with nature-derived solutions we’re truly proud of.”

“We're looking forward to introducing our new taste modulation platform to the US food and beverage market. This latest initiative aligns with our ongoing investment in enhancing our food and beverage offering, following the completion of our brand-new state-of-the-art production plant in Murcia, Spain, and a broader €25 million research, development and manufacturing modernisation project,” added Tom D'Hoore, Chief Commercial Officer of HTBA.

“We’re looking forward to exploring the potential of our flavonoid-powered innovations to enhance our customers’ food and beverage creations for outstanding consumer taste experiences,” he concluded.
