CELSIUS energy drinks gain NSF Certified for Sport certification

CELSIUS has secured NSF Certified for Sport status for a range of its energy drinks, strengthening its focus on third-party verification, label accuracy and sports nutrition

CELSIUS has announced that a range of its energy drinks, including all existing permanent flavours in its CELSIUS VIBE line, have achieved NSF Certified for Sport certification.

The certification provides independent verification that certified CELSIUS products have been tested for more than 300 substances prohibited by major sporting organisations and contain the ingredients and quantities declared on their labels.

For the sports nutrition market, the certification is intended to give athletes, coaches, trainers and other consumers an additional reference point when assessing product quality and suitability.

CELSIUS Chief Brand Officer Kyle Watson said third-party verification was becoming increasingly important as the functional beverage category evolved.

Achieving NSF Certified for Sport status reinforces our commitment to transparency, rigorous quality standards and delivering a product that meets the expectations of today’s competitive and performance-driven marketplace.

CELSIUS highlighted the certification at its inaugural Athlete Summit, held in Miami last month.

The event brought together collegiate and professional athletes for workshops and educational sessions covering sports nutrition and the role of third-party certification in product selection.

According to NSF, its Certified for Sport programme involves testing products for banned substances and verifying label claims, while also assessing manufacturing practices.

The programme is recognised by the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

The certification comes as functional beverages are expanding beyond traditional sports drinks, with brands increasingly positioning products around energy and active lifestyles.

For manufacturers and brands in the sports nutrition and functional beverage sectors, third-party certification can help differentiate a product, signalling its integrity and strengthening consumer confidence in ingredient transparency and quality.
