Through the acquisition of the nutraceutical distributor, Azelis hopes to expand its presence in this lucrative market — specifically in the Spanish and wider European markets

Specialty chemical and food ingredients servie provider Azelis has acquired Spanish nutraceutical company, Solchem Nature.

Through purchasing 100% of Solchem's shares, Azelis will bolster its presence in both the Spanish and European nutraceutical market, providing its customers with a range of science-backed ingredients.

Solchem's functional ingredient range includes targeted solutions in 21 different categories, including weight and metabolic management, cognitive health, sports/active nutrition, beauty from within, women's wellness and gut health.

Via this acquisition, Azelis' European customers will have access to Solchem's broad portfolio of nutraceuticals, as well as the expertise of Solchem's distribution and supplement development specialists.

Currently, Solchem has more than 250 customers across Europe and further afield, meaning Azelis' nutraceutical footprint will be significantly increased through this aquisition.

According to Azelis, the company was keen to acquire Solchem due to its desire to grow its market share in Spain, while bolstering its presence in the EMEA nutraceutical supply chain.

“Joining forces with Azelis is not only an exciting growth opportunity for Solchem, but also a natural fit," noted Solchem Nature's General Manager, Jose Manuel González.

"We share a strong innovation-driven culture, rooted in a commitment to excellence towards our principals and customers. We look forward to continuing our journey with Azelis to deliver the best solutions to our partners in the nutraceutical market.”

“We are excited to welcome Solchem to the Azelis team," added Javier Pérez, Managing Director at Azelis Iberia.

"By combining our capabilities, we can strengthen our position in the highly attractive nutraceutical market. With common value and the same entrepreneurial spirit, I'm convinced we will successfully unlock the nutraceutical market's untapped potential," he concluded.
