Sabinsa's eighth site has a range of capabilities for producing nutraceutical and pharmaceutical active ingredients

Sabinsa, a nutraceutical ingredients specialist, has received NSF and cGMP certification for its functional ingredients manufacturing facility in Hassan, India after meeting the requirements of the NSF GMP Registration Programme.

“While this is our youngest factory, it by no means lacks the safety and quality required to produce our functional ingredient portfolio. We have now confirmed this with our regulatory compliance certification,” said Sami-Sabinsa Global Managing Director and CEO, Shaheen Majeed.

The site

The novel greenfield manufacturing facility was inaugurated in March 2023, and covers 10 acres of land.

It stands as the company’s eighth manufacturing facility, and has the capacity to produce 88 tonnes of active nutraceutical and pharmaceutical ingredients per year.

The facility is equipped with 18 reactors, two hydrogenates and agitated nutsche filter dryers, centrifuges and Rotocone vacuum dryers.

It also has a zero liquid discharge capability, meaning the environmental impact of the site is significantly lower.

The Hassan facility has a clear location advantage and easy access to ports on the east and
west coasts of India. The neighboring Hassan Unit 2 facility is currently under construction.
