The newly published research is the fifth positive colic study with Lactobacillus reuteri

A Chinese study of infants with colic shows that babies given Lactobacillus reuteri Protectis cry significantly less compared with babies given a placebo.

The newly published research is the fifth positive colic study with Lactobacillus reuteri Protectis and the results confirm the positive results of earlier studies.

Treatment success was observed in all infants supplemented with Lactobacillus reuteri Protectis while it was seen in barely 16% of the placebo group.

In addition, the study showed 100% parent satisfaction in the Lactobacillus reuteri Protectis group, whereas only 16% of parents of children in the placebo group reported treatment satisfacion (42 infants were included in the study).

The study was published online by Antonie van Leeuwenhoek on 16 April 2015. More information on colic, study details and previous colic studies with Lactobacillus reuteri Protectis can be found online.

'With this study – the fifth independent, positive study with Lactobacillus reuteri Protectis on colic – we further strengthen our position in the paediatric field. Furthermore, it is valuable that we now also have strong data in this field from a study conducted in China,' says Peter Rothschild, President, BioGaia.
