OmniActive Health Technologies announced today the official US commercial launch of Nutritears, a proprietary combination of ingredients that addresses occasional dry eyes.

This is the first product created using the company’s Integrative Actives platform, which is designed to facilitate the delivery of multiple actives in concentrated smaller doses. The product features a patent-pending combination of ingredients including lutein and zeaxanthin isomers, curcuminoids, and vitamin D3.

“We have spent the last few months ramping up production to meet demand for our commercial launch and since its introduction in July, Nutritears has been well received by those looking to address the multifaceted issues surrounding dry eye,” said Isabel Lucas, Director of Product Launch and Marketing Excellence. “We welcome SupplySide West attendees to visit us at our booth (#5345) to discuss this novel, in demand, and clinically demonstrated solution.”

In a recent study, the ingredient was reportedly shown to improve eye hydration and moisture, lessen tear loss and help improve healthy tear production, as well as help soothe issues associated with occasional dry eyes in two weeks. Additionally, it was shown to reduce the need for artificial tears, which the company says is considered the primary cause of inconvenience.

“Our market research showed that there is an unmet need in the market for this type of product,” said Akhil Bajaj, Category Manager, Vision and Cognitive Health at OmniActive. “More specifically, our consumer insights revealed that nearly three quarters of consumers consider dietary supplement solutions for occasional dry eye to be more or just as effective as current therapies such as eye drops.”
