Marinova, a seaweed functional ingredients specialist, has been named the ‘Best Marine Biotechnology Company’ of 2024 in the APAC region at the International Life Sciences Awards.

The Life Sciences award ceremony acknowledges companies that are actively involved in advancing research, innovation and business performance in the life sciences sector.

Fucoidans for better health

Marinova specialises in the research, development and production of fucoidans, which are functional carbohydrates that naturally occur in brown seaweeds.

These bioactive polysaccharides can be used in supplements to support a range of health aspects, and are commonly used in nutritional, skincare and animal health formulations.

Discussing the accolade, the CEO of Marinova, Paul Garrott, commented: “We are honoured that Marinova’s longstanding commitment to innovative marine biotechnology has been recognised. Bioactive marine compounds are increasingly garnering the attention of researchers, formulators and consumers alike. Australia, with its extensive coastline and the third largest marine area in the world, is firmly focused on the sustainable production of high-quality marine bioproducts,”

“The quality and efficacy of Maritech organic fucoidans is based on more than two decades of research and the development of a unique proprietary extraction process.”
