Gelita is presenting its broad portfolio of natural ingredients for pet food at this year's Interzoo in Nuremberg. The fats, proteins, minerals and collagen peptides offer various options to facilitate production processes, improve nutritional profiles and create pet food with added health benefits, the company says.
It will showcase Petagile – an active ingredient designed to improve the agility and mobility of dogs, horses and cats. The company will also discuss what its its Gelipro Bind functional proteins bring to the manufacturing process, which can contribute to stable textures in dry and moist clean label products.

The specific bioactive collagen peptides in Petagile promote the metabolism of the joint cartilage and thus help counteract age- and stress-related wear and tear of the joints. With their neutral odour and taste, as well as high solubility, the ingredient is suitable for numerous wet and dry feed concepts with additional health benefits.
Ingredients with specific technological functions help to facilitate pet food production processes while ensuring the desired texture and appearance of the final product. Functional protein Gelipro Bind offers water-binding and emulsifying properties, while enabling the formation of thermoreversible gels and acting as a natural adhesive that binds the various components of the pet food together. The ingredient provides increased stability and variable texture in wet food.
The portfolio is completed by the organic calcium and phosphorus source Gelimin, the digestible proteins Gelipro Digest and Gelita Flex, as well as the animal fat Gelifat and collagen protein Gelita Gelatine. All of these ingredients are free from gluten and allergens, and are sustainably produced from animal products.
