Functional mushroom ingredient provider Musheez® has debuted a new quality assurance report focused on reishi, lion’s mane and chaga; three key fungal species used in functional food and supplement formulations.

The report is designed to address the quality issues currently impacting the mushroom supplement market, and delves into best practices for identity testing, vital compounds to watch out for in each species and more.

It also lays out the results of testing done on mushroom ingredients for sale on the market, finding that many were low in bioactive compounds of interest.

To discuss the report's key take-home messages and the importance of quality control in the functional mushroom space, NBR caught up with CEO of Musheez, Robin Gurney.
