At the 2025 Functional Food and Wellness Summit, which is currently taking place in Bangkok, Ms Monitar Tan will give a presentation on the essential role of endogenous Ubiquinol in supporting mitochondrial energy production.
Tan will also highlight Ubiquinol's capacity as an antioxidant, as well as its ability to reduce the impacts of age-related decline via its promotion of mitochondrial health.
"The concept of healthy ageing goes beyond extending lifespan; it's about improving quality of life and feeling vitalised," notes Monitar.
The 30 minute presentation will look into the latest studies on Ubiquinol, which aim to present strategies that allow healthcare practitioners to implement ubiquinol into healthy ageing advice and protocols.
As personalised healthcare solutions continue to rise in popularity amongst the ageing population, Tan believes there is no better time to cater to this market with cellular health solutions: "For healthcare practitioners, understanding the essential role of Ubiquinol in ATP is a game-changer. The potent lipid-soluble antioxidant allows us to address the foundational drivers of ageing, driving better patient outcomes."
Promoting healthy ageing
The Southeast Asian region is rapidly ageing as a population, with the proportion of people aged 60 or above predicted to rise to 20.3% by 2050.
There are many diseases associated with age, which pose a significant burden to healthcare services globally.
As age-related conditions continue to burden the healthcare service, practitioners are placing an increasing focus on finding scientifically validated protocols to reduce their impact.
A significant factor that contributes to the ageing process is the reduction in mitochondrial energy production — which can begin in early adulthood and tends to accelerate rapidly in middle age.
This change can compromise the production of the cell's main energy source ATP, while also impacting cellular resilience, meaning older individuals may experience adverse effects on cardiovascular health, sleep, stress levels, cognition, menopausal symptoms and overall vitality.
Kaneka believes that Ubiquinol could be the answer to this challenge, helping users to manage their cognition, as well as their cardiovascular health and menopausal symptoms.
