Ingredion and Lantmännen have entered into a long-term collaboration to develop and commercialise a plant-based protein isolate portfolio.
Together, the companies will enhance the manufacturing processes associated with pea protein isolates, while also focusing on product innovation and sales.
To make this a success, Lantmännen will invest more than €100m into a protein isolate production facility in Sweden, which will likely be complete by 2027.
Ingredion will assist Lantmännen in developing a differentiated portfolio of plant-based protein isolates derived from yellow peas, which will be suitable for a range of functional food and beverage applications.
Both parties will also be attending Fi Europe, where experts will be on hand to discuss details of the partnership, as well as the potential of plant-based proteins.
