Clinical trial finds Samriddh's B-Lit Bacopa cuts stress and boosts sleep quality within weeks

A study of 50 adults has shown that daily supplementation with B-Lit Bacopa significantly reduced perceived stress and increased total sleep time, alongside measurable reductions in cortisol levels

The ingredient supplier Samriddh Nutractive has announced the findings of a clinical study evaluating the efficacy and safety of B-Lit Bacopa (Bacopa monnieri extract) for supporting stress management, sleep quality and mood in adults experiencing non-chronic stress.

B-Lit Bacopa is a clinically studied form of Bacopa monnieri that uses the brand's Bio-Enhanced Active Technology (BEAT Tech) to improve absorption.

Standardised to 30% total bacosides, Samriddh states that it supports cognitive health and emotional wellness, promoting stress relief, mood balance, brain health and sleep quality.

The randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial involved 50 healthy adults with non-chronic stress who were randomised to receive either B-Lit Bacopa extract once daily or a placebo.

Outcome measures included perceived stress, sleep quality, mood state, anxiety and objective sleep parameters assessed through wrist actigraphy and serum cortisol levels. Safety analyses were also conducted.

Results of the study showed the following:

  • Significant reductions in perceived stress were observed in the B-Lit Bacopa group as early as two weeks, compared to placebo
  • Sleep quality improved significantly by week three in participants taking B-Lit Bacopa. Improvements continued to increase with time, with benefits up to seven times greater than placebo by the end of the study
  • Total sleep time increased by 27.6 minutes in the B-Lit Bacopa group, while the placebo group experienced a 5.52-minute decrease in sleep duration.

The study highlighted a significant reduction in serum cortisol, an important biomarker of physiological stress, along with improvements in sleep.

Participants who took B-LIT Bacopa experienced a decrease of 4.10 µg/dL in cortisol levels, whereas those in the placebo group showed only a slight increase.

"This randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study further validates B-Lit Bacopa for managing everyday stress and improving sleep quality," said Aditya Jain, founder and CEO of Samriddh.

The significant reductions in perceived stress and cortisol levels, along with improvements in sleep quality and duration, highlight B-Lit Bacopa as a safe and effective solution for supporting emotional wellness and restorative sleep in today's high-stress environment.
