Anti-acne specialist Clearstem reworks nutricosmetic formulation for those taking antidepressants

The US-based company has reworked its anti-acne formulation to be suitable for those taking mood stabilisers by removing the 5-HTP

US-based anti-acne specialist Clearstem has launched its new Mindbodyskin 2 supplement (No 5-HTP). The nutricosmetic has been formulated to aid healing hormonal acne, and is specifically designed for people taking antidepressants, including SSRIs, antipsychotic medications or other mood stabilisers.

Mindbodyskin 2 builds off of the original formulation for Mindbodyskin, but takes into account those taking mood stabilising medications.

The reworked formulation is now suitable for those taking mood stabilisers as the ingredient 5-HTP has been removed, the company explained in a Facebook post. 5-HTP, or 5-Hydroxytryptophan, is an intermediate in the natural synthesis of the essential amino acid, tryptophan, to serotonin. It is derived from the Griffonia simplicifolia plant.

The ingredients include Glutathione, Vitamin B5, DIM, Vitamin A and dandelion root.

The company said the formulation is designed to "address breakouts in several ways, targeting multiple root causes simultaneously. By pairing digestive support with multiple liver detoxifiers, the body’s intake and elimination pathways are optimised, meanwhile hormones are being balanced synergistically for calmer skin in 7-10 days."

"It addresses entire body functions (like liver and hormone metabolism) instead of narrowly focusing on just one or two factors," the company explains in the product listing. "By combining DIM, vitamin B5, bio-available vitamin A, glutathione, turmeric, milk thistle, and digestive enzymes your body can optimise digestion & detoxification while regulating the hormones that lead to acne. Clients with PCOS reported a significant reduction in breakouts as well."
