AAK finalises divestment of US foodservice facility to focus on novel Swedish site

Published: 2-Jan-2025

The US site's divestment will be replaced by a new site in Dalby, Sweden, allowing AAK to better serve the European market

Plant-based oil and fat specialist AAK has divested its US foodservice facility in Hillside, New Jersey.

This strategic move has resulted in a one-time positive cash flow of approximately SEK 600m to the company.

According to AAK, the divestment will not likely exhibit a material effect on the company's profit and loss statement.

During 2024, the Hillside facility represented around 5% of AAK's total volumes, while accounting for about 1% of its operating profit.

Therefore, the company expects the site's divestment to enhance the group's operating profit by around 4%.

To replace the site in Hillside, AAK is planning to build an alternative foodservice site in Dalby, Sweden.

The site will likely be located in Staffanstorp, and will bolster the company's foodservice operations across the key European market.
