A C Simmonds acquires FoodCrafters Group
Consolidates its food division into Mozaic Brands
A C Simmonds and Sons has acquired FoodCrafters Group, based in Toronto, Canada, for an undisclosed sum.
In addition, the company has launched Mozaic Brands.
FoodCrafters supplies baked and gluten free products to food retailers and owns Breadko National Bakery and Plasticap. The company specialises in high volume bakery and snack food manufacturing and product development. It operates segregated, gluten free production lines and maintains stringent quality assurance and food grade standards.
Breadko is an established pitta bread, flat bread, thin buns, panini and thin bagel manufacturer. Brand names include: Alwatan Pita, Zeus Flatbread and Tiranga Nan. The company makes private label brands for leading food retailers and has fresh and frozen distribution networks across Canada and the US. Breadko is one of the largest food service manufacturers of pitta bread in Canada.
Plasticap is a supply chain partner to major corporations and a manufacturer of caps and closures for the food, dairy and beverage industries and personal care products.
The food division of A C Simmonds and Sons, which operates Goudas Foods, is now consolidated under the operating name of Mozaic Brands.
'This significantly enhances our brand in the international and ethnic food business,' said John Simmonds, Chairman and CEO of A C Simmonds.
'We are well positioned to work with leading food industry retailers and to serve the millions of new immigrants during the next decade from China, South Asia and Latin America who we anticipate will account for approximately $12bn in additional international and ethnic annual food sales in Canada.
'With this acquisition and the recent acquisition of Goudas Foods, Mozaic Brands is rapidly growing its food company business with good market penetration, an established customer base and solid revenues.'
