The expansion takes the facility's size up to 155,000 sqft

M2 Ingredients, an innovative pioneer and leading producer of 100% certified organic, whole food mushroom powder ingredients, announces it completed the expansion of its facility to a 155,000 sqft of organic mushroom cultivation and processing, which sets a new benchmark for functional mushroom cultivation in North America.

Certified 100% organic with a BRCGS AA-rating, the new facility doubles the company’s 2023 capacity with plans to triple by 2025, and embodies M2 Ingredients' commitment to quality, sustainability, and innovation.

M2 Ingredients employs 100% organic agricultural practices and ensures that all its mushroom ingredients are free from pollutants and heavy metals.

Its team of mycologists are engaged in advanced in-house strain development and tissue expansion for both liquid and solid inoculation. Master cultures are cryogenically stored to ensure vigour and purity, and all strains are identity tested through DNA sequencing and verification.

“The expansion enables our team to conduct advanced R&D efforts and effectively develop new strains, IP, differentiated solutions and functional blends. Our team of mycologists and growers have implemented technology and processes to optimise growing conditions, including lighting, temperature and airflow for each species we grow to ensure productivity and efficacy.” said Julie Daoust, Chief Scientific Officer for M2 Ingredients.

The global functional mushrooms market was valued at $30bn in 2022 and is expected to continue growing at a rate of 10.8% CAGR through 2030.
