Zeus Hygia has launched Gremin, a proprietary patent-pending nutraceutical compound containing dual polyphenols, chlorogenic acid and curcuminoids, designed to aid post-workout and competition recovery. The sports nutrition ingredient targets issues resulting from day-to-day vigorous exercise and over-exertion, including muscle pain, injury and inflammation.
Arunkanth Krishnakumar, Zeus Hygia co-founder and Director said: “Gremin is a proprietary ingredient made by utilising a platform technology that delivers synergistic anti-inflammatory and antioxidant actions to support improving stamina and endurance. This unique ingredient was developed by embedding herbal extracts in a matrix system to ensure better efficacy and therapeutic benefits.”
Two scientific studies support the ingredient’s capability to accelerate muscle recovery while improving stamina and endurance across age groups.
In a recent randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, 16 participants took either 500 mg Gremin or placebo for 10 days. This research aimed to measure the ingredient’s potential impact on recovery from muscle injury/damage, evaluating inflammatory biomarkers such as TNF alpha and c-reactive protein, as well as on VAS score and levels of creatine kinase, lactate dehydrogenase and blood urea nitrogen.
Results reportedly showed those in the supplementation group experienced significant reductions in creatine kinase (30.6%), compared to 1.53% in placebo, and dramatic improvements in VAS score (60%), compared to 31.6% in placebo. C-reactive protein levels were minimal in the treatment group, compared to a peak of approximately 400% in placebo group. The supplement group performed more squats (increase of 28%) than the placebo (13% more).
The ingredient was developed to be combined with protein powder, allowing brands to claim support for muscle health, muscle recovery from wear and tear in exercising and sports, in addition to endurance.
