TurtleTree's precision-fermented lactoferrin gets the FDA green light

Food tech startup TurtleTree’s precision-fermented lactoferrin ingredient, LF+, has received a “no questions” letter from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), recognising the product as GRAS.

According to TurtleTree, LF+ is the first lactoferrin nutraceutical produced by precision fermentation that has been approved by a regulatory body globally. 

This approval means that US manufacturers in the functional food, beverage and supplement spaces can now use the vegan ingredient in their formulations freely.
