True Protein unveils ‘world-first’ stable canned liquid creatine

Australian brand’s 3 g creatine monohydrate canned drink promises label-accurate dosing without stabilisers, though independent testing on commercial batches is still to come

Australian sports nutrition brand True Protein says it has developed the world’s first stable canned liquid creatine, with True Protein Liquid Creatine due to launch early next year.

The 355ml drink contains 3 g of creatine monohydrate and Australian spring water, with no sugar, sweeteners, preservatives or chemical stabilisers.

The company will produce it at its new Melbourne innovation hub.

Why is liquid creatine so hard to make?

Creatine monohydrate is one of the most widely researched sports nutrition ingredients, but once dissolved in water, it gradually converts into creatinine, a waste product with none of creatine’s performance benefits.True Protein unveils ‘world-first’ stable canned liquid creatine

Heat, acidity and time all accelerate the process, which is why creatine has largely remained a powder.

Brands have tackled the problem with encapsulation, specialist liquid systems or higher doses to compensate for losses.

True Protein says its approach is different: a proprietary, purely mechanical process that keeps conversion to creatinine very low without encapsulation.

However, the company did not disclose how the process works in its release.

Research partners and scientific backing

True Protein said the technology has been developed for more than a decade by its research partners, who began work on amino acid stabilisation in 2015.

The brand signed an exclusive agreement with them in 2025 and built the Melbourne facility to move from lab to commercial scale.

Professor Sergej Ostojic, a member of the company’s Scientific Advisory Panel, said independent laboratory tests on samples supplied by the team gave “encouraging” results under the conditions evaluated.

He cautioned that the findings are preliminary and must be confirmed in commercially manufactured products, with the stated dose maintained and creatinine conversion kept minimal under real-world storage.
