To date, more than 450 women have participated in seven different studies during which the effects of Pycnogenol on menstrual discomfort and endometriosis-related symptoms were specifically investigated.6–12
In an initial pilot trial, 39 women with either endometriosis, severe menstrual cramps or other chronic pelvic discomfort took Pycnogenol for 7 days before menstruation.6
Abdominal discomfort, menstrual cramps and tenderness were found to be improved with Pycnogenol. These first observations have led to more research on the ingredient’s beneficial effects on menstrual discomfort.
In a second study, 47 women with dysmenorrhea took Pycnogenol for two menstrual cycles.7 The scores for abdominal discomfort were reduced by 41% compared with the scores before supplementation.
