The excipient systems are designed to speed up the tablet manufacturing process, improve user experience and mask bitter notes

Roquette has revamped its range of ready-to-use film coating solutions for nutraceutical production — bringing together the Tabshield and ReadiLYCOAT systems.

This updated range is designed to cater to the evolving needs of the nutraceutical and over the counter (OTC) markets, allowing supplement manufacturers to create products with superior performance.

Through this coatings platform, Roquette can assist tablet manufacturers in creating high quality, sugar-free formulations in a range of different colours.

The environmentally conscious range, which harnesses hydroxypropyl methylcellulose [HPMC], polyvinyl alcohol [PVA] and methacrylic acid alongside TiO2 freeformulations, is designed to reduce processing times for manufacturers, while also enhancing consumer experience through the masking of bitter notes.

According to Roquette, these systems are fast and simple to incorporate into the production process, allowing manufacturers to create effective drugs with immediate and enteric release properties.

“The global market for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical coatings is projected to reach €2.7 billion by 2027, driven by increasing demand for innovative patient-friendly dosage forms,” comments Paul Smaltz, Head of the Pharmaceutical Solutions Business Unit at Roquette.

“Our new coatings platform is designed to help drug and supplement producers seize these opportunities with effective and eco-conscious solutions that enhance user experience – whether that’s by masking bitter-tasting active ingredients, smoothing tablet surfaces for ease of swallowing, or providing surface color to help patients differentiate their medications.”
