Functional ingredient Plasys300 can support men's health by reducing the frequency of nocturia and promoting better sleep quality

A study has found that a men's health-targeting nutraceutical can support prostate and bladder health.

Plasys300, the functional ingredient blend of rye pollen and plant phytosterol β-sitosterol by Pharmactive Biotech, has been shown to reduce nocturia, while also enhancing sleep quality.

Nocturia is defined as the frequent need to urinate within the night, and affects many older men.

According to Pharmactive, approximately 40% of men over 50 experience nocturia, with a shocking 90% of men older than 80 enduring this problem.

To determine how Plasys300 could help mitigate the impacts of nocturia, Pharmactive Biotech ran an 8-week study in 50 healthy male participants between the ages of 40 and 60 who frequently experience this issue.

During the study, participants would consume 300mg of the nutraceutical daily and track their progress through self-reported questionnaires.

90% of participants experienced fewer nighttime awakenings

Key findings

Throughout the trial, a range of benefits were observed in the supplement group, including:

  • 88% of participants finding that their urge to urinate during the night diminished
  • 90% experiencing fewer nighttime awakenings
  • More than 80% enjoyed better sleep quality
  • Improvements in wellbeing and quality of life

Plasys300 is a rye pollen ingredient that's enriched with phytosterols — specifically β-sitosterol.

The nutraceutical is standardised to at least 50% phytosteroles and ≥1% essential amino acids, which work synergistically to promote hormonal balance and diminish urinary difficulties caused by an enlarged prostate.

Scientists believe that β-sitosterol functions through the inhibition of testosterone production, which is a key contributor to prostate enlargement.

Pharmactive Biotech's Senior Scientific Researcher, commented: “Nocturia is known to disrupt sleep quality and negatively impact overall quality of life,”

“We found that men have very specific and clear expectations for nocturia supplements. They want a product that effectively reduces the urge to urinate at night, minimising nighttime awakenings so they can sleep more soundly and feel less fatigued. They also expressed a preference for natural ingredients that have been tested by fellow consumers for safety, efficacy and reliability.”

The company's Communication Manager, Carloz Rodriguez, added: “The results of the current study are very promising, especially the significant
improvements reported in symptoms related to nocturia,”

“It also revealed a high percentage of satisfaction among participants — close to 90% of the users. 9 out of 10 study participants expressed intent to purchase our natural formula and said they would recommend it to others. These findings reinforce the efficacy of Plasys300 and emphasises its potential as a valuable natural solution for men’s urinary health.”

Pharmactive will be present Plasys300 at SupplySide West, Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas, on October 30-31, 2024, booth #4129.
