Catering for growing consumer demand for less sweet flavoured, natural, plant-based products, each extract in the new botanical range has been tailor-made to maximise the characteristic profiles

Synergy Flavours, a global flavour expert, has introduced a new range of natural, water-soluble botanical extracts for the European beverage, dairy and savoury markets.

Catering for growing consumer demand for less sweet flavoured, natural, plant-based products, each extract in the new botanical range has been tailor-made to maximise the characteristic profiles.

The new range consists of popular botanical flavours that pair well with sweeter fruit profiles and add a premium positioning to alcoholic and soft beverages.

They include the following: geranium, lavender, rose, peppermint, juniper berry, nutmeg, rosemary, thyme, pink peppercorn, basil, elderflower, ginger, black peppercorn and lemongrass. For customers looking for halal options a selection of natural flavours in matching flavour profiles is also available.

Developed using Synergy’s technical expertise in extraction techniques, the new range complements the Synergy Pure portfolio of natural essences and extracts.

Hugh Evans, Marketing Manager for Europe and Asia at Synergy Flavours, commented: “Consumer interest in botanical flavours is growing and we identified a need for a premium, natural, clear, colourless, water-soluble range of extracts that gives formulators the flexibility to add a modern, grown-up twist to their ranges."

"While botanicals are already popular in beverages, the trend is spilling over into other categories and our new range caters specifically to products that require water-solubility, including yoghurts, dairy drinks, sauces, dressings and marinades.

“The trend for botanicals is inextricably linked to demand for natural ingredients. When consumers choose plant-based flavours, they expect all-natural labels. Our natural botanical extracts fit the bill and deliver a true and authentic profile. They can be stored ambient and, like most liquid flavourings, they are easy to store, handle and use.”

Synergy’s applications experts work with customers to create great tasting foods and beverages that leverage the latest consumer trends. The new range of natural botanical extracts enhances the company’s broad portfolio of flavours, extracts, essences, concentrates and dairy ingredients.
