The study, published in the journal Medicine, suggested that Shagandha can effectively reduce stress and anxiety by decreasing cortisol and increasing serotonin in healthy individuals with mild to moderate stress-related symptoms, compared to placebo.
In the 60-day double-blind, placebo-controlled study, 54 individuals were randomised and 50 completed the study. The research suggests that Sabinsa’s Shagandha (2.5% withanolides), with a 500mg once daily dose, can effectively improve stress and anxiety by reducing morning salivary cortisol levels, an indicator of stress, and increasing serotonin in healthy individuals with mild to moderate symptoms.
