Arla Foods Ingredients is highlighting its Lacprodan ISO.Clear protein isolate as a way for manufacturers to add protein to juice drinks.
The global market for fortified and functional beverages is forecast to grow to $125 bn by 2025, at a CAGR of 5.1%. High-protein and source of protein claims are also growing in the category.
Lacprodan ISO.Clear is a whey protein isolate developed for the fortification of functional beverages without cloudiness, graininess or off-taste. It has a protein content of 90%, offers high heat stability and is clear in solution, the company says, making it suitable for pasteurised or UHT processed juice drinks.
To showcase this utility, Arla has launched a protein-enriched juice drink concept. It shows how manufacturers can use the product to deliver the benefits of whey protein isolate in a juice drink format with no added sugar. It also demonstrates how drinks fortified with the protein isolate can be suitable as a health-conscious breakfast, on-the-go vitaliser, post-workout recovery drink, or a nutritious drink for older consumers.
