Kaneka expands ubiquinol authenticity testing with third phase of market surveillance

Kaneka Nutrients has launched the third phase of its independent ubiquinol authenticity testing programme, aiming to strengthen supplement quality assurance and improve confidence in the global CoQ10 market

Kaneka Nutrients has announced the third phase of its independent market surveillance programme for ubiquinol supplements, reinforcing its efforts to verify product authenticity and protect quality standards across the dietary supplements industry.

The latest round of testing will see Kaneka continue working with accredited third-party laboratories to analyse commercially available products labelled as containing ubiquinol.

According to the brand, the initiative has been designed to provide retailers, manufacturers and consumers with evidence-based information on supplement authenticity while supporting more informed sourcing and purchasing decisions.

Ubiquinol is the reduced, active form of coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), an ingredient widely used in supplements targeting healthy ageing, cardiovascular health and cellular energy production.

Kaneka says its patented yeast fermentation process produces a bioidentical form of ubiquinol that is fully traceable and avoids the cis-isomers associated with synthetic CoQ10 manufacturing.

"We built this category, which means we have an obligation to protect it," said Terese Mansell, Vice President of Kaneka's Nutrients Division.

That stewardship extends beyond our own manufacturing standards to what consumers find on shelves.

The third phase builds on previous rounds of market testing and follows the launch of Kaneka's "Ubiquinol Verified Program," which uses independent laboratory analysis to assess both the identity and potency of finished products claiming to contain Kaneka Ubiquinol.

Kaneka said that where testing identifies concerns over product authenticity, it may pursue legal or regulatory action and, where appropriate, publicly disclose the findings.

The company added that these measures are intended to safeguard consumer trust and maintain confidence in the rapidly growing ubiquinol supplement category.

The company is also encouraging brands, retailers and consumers to look for the Kaneka Quality Seal on packaging as an indicator that products have been manufactured using genuine Kaneka Ubiquinol and meet its quality verification standards.
