FloraWorks is set to commercially launch its TruCBN cannabinol (CBN) ingredient to the supplement industry at this year's SupplySide Global show in Las Vegas — and it is inviting supplement brands invited to participate in a 30-day sleep study trialling the ingredient.
The Oregon-based cannabinoid biotech will exhibit at Booth #7013 from 28-30 October.
Attendees can enrol in the study at the booth and receive a complimentary 30-day supply of TruCBN softgels, with participants tracking their sleep through People Science's Chloe app.
The initiative is intended to give formulators, brand owners and marketers an opportunity to evaluate the ingredient through personal use before considering it for supplement formulations.
Up to 1000 SupplySide Global attendees will be able to participate.
Clinical and safety data
TruCBN is FloraWorks’ ultra-pure CBN ingredient, which the company says is supported by clinical, toxicological and manufacturing data.
A randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial involving 1020 adults found that three doses of TruCBN — which were compared with 4 mg melatonin — improved sleep disturbance scores compared with placebo during a six-week period.
Radicle Science published the study in the peer-reviewed journal Pharmaceuticals in 2024.
A 90-day oral toxicology study published this year in Toxicology Reports also established a no-observed-adverse-effect level (NOAEL) of 400 mg/kg/day, the highest dose tested.
FloraWorks also reported in August that it had completed an internal GRAS assessment for TruCBN, with an independent scientific panel now reviewing the assessment.
Building its CBN platform
The launch follows a series of developments for FloraWorks during 2026 as it works to establish a regulatory and commercial pathway for CBN ingredients.
In April, the company announced that its 50 mg TruCBN softgels were available to healthcare organisations evaluating sleep-focused hemp products through the CMS Substance Access Beneficiary Engagement Incentive programme.
The firm has also been developing its proprietary manufacturing technology.
TruCBN is produced from hemp-derived CBD using a patent-protected controlled oxidation process.
The company says the process uses standard food-processing techniques to produce CBN at consistent purity and scale.
The company said that it was now preparing a New Dietary Ingredient notification for the US FDA.
“Brands evaluating a new ingredient want evidence they can hand to their regulatory and formulation teams,” said Alleh Lindquist, CEO and co-founder of FloraWorks.
SupplySide puts that full package in front of the people who build supplements and the sleep study lets them experience it for themselves.
