BioVivo Science launches VeriPalmetto with fully traceable saw palmetto supply chain

The ingredient addresses growing demand for authenticated, US-sourced saw palmetto — with direct harvester relationships, standardised fatty acid profiles and rigorous batch testing to counter adulteration risks in the category

Botanical supplier BioVivo Science has announced the launch of its new saw palmetto ingredient, VeriPalmetto.

The brand stressed the new ingredient's fully controlled, traceable-from-farm-to-extraction.

Saw palmetto (Serenoa repens) is a plant native to the southeastern US that has been thoroughly studied for its benefits in supporting prostate and urinary function, as well as promoting testosterone levels and hair health

Almost 90% of the world's saw palmetto berries are harvested in Florida during late summer and early fall, when the berries reach their peak ripeness and contain the highest levels of the fatty acids and phytosterols that contribute to their beneficial properties.

The company cited increased demand for the botanical as the reason for the launch, but said brands lacked a traceable, US-based supply of the ingredient.

Thus, it is positioning VeriPalmetto to fill this gap.

"Demand for saw palmetto continues to grow as consumers increasingly seek established botanical solutions for healthy ageing and men's wellness," said James Roza, VP of Technical Services at BioVivo Science.

“At the same time, brands are placing greater emphasis on ingredient authenticity, traceability and US-sourced, US-made supply."

Our VeriPalmetto saw palmetto line was developed to meet these priorities, offering scientifically authenticated ingredients with standardised fatty acid profiles and flexible formats for a range of nutraceutical applications.

The company then processes the berries at its botanical extraction and manufacturing facility in Jeffersonville, Indiana.

It warned about the rising popularity of counterfeits, adding that ingredient authentication cannot rely on a high total fatty acid percentage alone.

"The first line of defence to eliminate the ‘black box’ of adulteration is the control of the supply chain,” said Chris Smith, Director of Tolling & International Sales, at BioVivo Science.

"Our established network of experienced Florida harvesters gives us direct control at the source, beginning with fresh, authentic Serenoa repens berries."

From harvest and drying through extraction at our US facility, every critical step is managed with greater transparency and oversight — giving customers a more traceable, consistent and secure domestic supply.

It then provides comprehensive documentation and certificates of analysis to support transparency and regulatory confidence throughout the supply chain.

However, Smith warned that labour constraints may affect berry availability this season and encouraged nutra customers to connect with the firm's supply chain team early to discuss anticipated demand and help secure supply.
