Green Bioactives, a natural products developer, has been awarded a grant from Innovate UK, which was given in collaboration with the University of Edinburgh.
The GBP £224,000 grant was awarded through Innovate UK’s Engineering Biology research and development programme, and aims to accelerate the creation of Green Bioactive’s biomanufacturing platform for high-value plant metabolites.
Optimising functional ingredient manufacturing
Plant metabolites that are suitable for nutraceutical applications often require extensive and complex extraction processes, which can be costly both in terms of environmental impact and time.
Green Bioactives promises to make the process more simple and environmentally friendly with its platform.

The engineering biology collaborative research and development grant is designed to support projects that leverage engineering biology to develop new solutions and products, fostering collaboration between industry and research organisations.
