Qualitas Health, developers of high-value vegetarian food supplements and pharmaceutical ingredients based on microalgae, has announced that Dr Rebecca White has been appointed as its Texas Site Manager.
'As we continue to build our production capabilities, we are pleased to welcome Dr White to lead the operations of our microalgae facility,' said Yuri Shoshan, CEO of Qualitas Health. 'She has the expertise of scaling up and running large scale algal biomass production operations, and has a keen talent for building dynamic, well-rounded teams. This addition to our team is part of our significant increased investment in our Texas facility, to ensure a robust supply chain.'
Dr White’s background uniquely positions her for this role. She received her PhD in microbiology from Texas A&M University, as a National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellow. Prior to joining Qualitas, she was Director of Cultivation at Sapphire Energy, overseeing the growing and processing of microalgae.
'I am excited to join Qualitas at this pivotal time in microalgae production and its use in human nutrition products,' said Dr Rebecca White. 'As an EPA-rich, highly bioavailable, vegetarian and sustainable source of omega-3s, Almega PL is on the cutting edge of microalgae-based products.'
On 1 October, Dr White will be a panel chair at the Algae Biomass Organization (ABO) Summit for a panel on Cultivation Technology: Novel Systems and Advances in Product Yield.
Almega PL will be featured by Qualitas Health at the upcoming SupplySide West industry event held October 6-8. They are underwriters of the Omega-3 Summit on 6 October and will be exhibiting in booth 3650.
