SourceOne Global Partners and Qualitas Health — two functional ingredients companies — have entered into a partnership to introduce a microalgae omega-3 ingredients range to the global market.

The microalgae-based functional ingredient AlmegaPL, will position the companies in the emerging plant-based omega-3 industry, with the goal of the duo being to overcome the omega-3 supply chain concerns.

Qualitas Health brings a wealth of expertise in microalgae production, as well as clinical research — while SourceOne will bring its sales, marketing and distrbution infrastructure catered to the functional food and nutraceutical markets to the deal.

“Forming partnerships with ingredient manufacturers who value innovation, intellectual property and robust supporting science remains SourceOne’s priority. This commitment underscores our dedication to our global network of brand partners and contract manufacturers that we’ve built over the past 21 years,” said CEO and Founder of SourceOne, Jesse Lopez.

“Our new partnership with Qualitas Health marks a significant milestone in the omega-3 industry, allowing us to offer our valued customers
substantial differentiation through patented and clinically proven AlmegaPL ® solutions across a broad range of product applications.”

AlmegaPL uses a proprietary strain of Nannochloropsis, a microalgae that produces an omega-3 which has been clinically confirmed to decrease remnant cholesterol by up to 25%.

The omega-3 nutraceutical is also suitable for vegans, vegetarians and kosher or halal diets.
