The IPA is the "Global Voice of Probiotics," providing a forum to share industry updates, new product developments and advances in research.
With members from both academia and industry, it connects scientific communities, global institutions, consumers, consumer associations, trade associations and national authorities.
Stephen O’Hara, CEO of OptiBiotix, said: “We are pleased to join such a respected network of probiotic experts and look forward being closely involved with its activities. The IPA’s work is vital to the progress we are making in microbiome science and our membership will help us to enhance our expert standing in the field.”
The IPA works with industry and government bodies to establish approved standards for probiotic products, from supplements to functional foods and pharmaceuticals, while advancing education and awareness.
As a member of the IPA, OptiBiotix will join the ranks of experts driving development and furthering standards in probiotic science and manufacturing.
George Paraskevakos, IPA Executive Director, added: “The IPA wishes OptiBiotix a warm welcome. Our international community of experts is at the leading edge of probiotic research and development so Optibiotix will be in good company.”
OptiBiotix discovers and develops microbial strains, compounds and formulations that modify the human microbiome — the collective genome of the microbes in the body — to prevent and manage a range of diseases.
These can be used as functional food ingredients or active compounds and pre- and probiotics are an important area of the science behind their engineering.
