It’s still the number-one killer of women: heart disease. New statistics published by the American Heart Association predicts that 60% of American women will have at least one type of cardiovascular disease by 2058, and approximately one-third of all women 20-44 years of age will have some type of cardiovascular disease, up from the current 1 in 4.
A powerful heart-protective nutrient – nattokinase as NSK-SD -- is shown in human clinical studies to be valuable for women concerned about supporting healthy heart function. Specifically, this proprietary fermented soybean extract may help normalise blood pressure, protect against blood clot formation, inhibit platelet aggregation and manage inflammation.
Women are concerned about keeping their hearts functioning and reducing risk of heart disease just as much as men. This truth underscores the importance of continuing to focus on cardiovascular support in women’s health supplements and prioritise nutrients that address the known risk factors for heart disease.
Said Vincent Hackel, CEO of JBSL-USA.
Supports healthy blood pressure
Chronic elevated blood pressure (hypertension) is pernicious, leading to risk of stroke and heart disease. Several human clinical studies demonstrate NSK-SD’s efficacy in decreasing high blood pressure. In one study, 73 hypertensive men and women who consumed NSK-SD had reductions in systolic and diastolic blood pressure as well as renin, which is produced by the kidney to increase blood pressure. In another study, 79 hypertensive adults taking 100mg NSK-SD showed reductions in systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Notably, women who took the supplement showed overall decrease in the von Willebrand factor, a cardiovascular risk marker linked to stroke.
Supports healthy blood coagulation
Too much fibrin in the body can create blood clots that may lead to potentially fatal events such as heart attacks and stroke. The enzyme plasmin plays a key role in fibrinolysis which destroys dangerous excess fibrin. Nattokinase has been shown to reduce circulating fibrinogen (the precursor to fibrin) in the blood, reducing the raw material available for excessive clot formation.
Inhibits platelet aggregation
High blood viscosity, caused primarily by formation of platelet clumps contributes to cardiovascular disease. Nattokinase has been shown to inhibit platelets from sticking together. A review of human studies suggests that nattokinase inhibits platelet aggregation by helping decrease blood viscosity and boost blood flow. In one study, participants supplementing with 2,000 FU daily for one week showed clearly visible disaggregation which remained for another 7 days after supplementation stopped.
Manages inflammation
Inflammation is a known characteristic of poor cardiovascular function and can be a factor in development of heart disease. Inflammation is often identified by high circulating C-reactive protein (CRP) produced by the liver in response to inflammation. One unpublished study evaluating the effects of NSK-SDR in 18 participants with three or more cardiovascular risk factors found that their CRP levels decreased, and the effect was greatest in those with the most elevated baseline levels.
As more emphasis is placed on women’s life stages, it is critical to understand that at any age, any stage, women need to ensure cardiovascular fitness to prolong health. Adding nattokinase (NSK-SD) is one powerful and proven way to do just that.
