Nutrafruit and Native Extracts launch Queen Garnet ingredients

The companies developed the ingredient for the cosmetics, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, food and beverage markets

Nutrafruit, global license holder of Queen Garnet PBR, and Native Extracts have launched two extracts of the Queen Garnet fruit.

As Native Extracts continues its advances in “True to Nature” extracts, the companies are now delivering two ingredients charged with phyto-compounds. Through the collaboration of the Native technical team, Nutrafruit has developed the ingredient for the cosmetics, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, food and beverage markets.

Luke Couch, CEO of Nutrafruit, said: “The research we’ve undertaken has surprised us regarding the sheer amount of nutrients and active beneficial compounds able to be extracted from the fruit. These new ‘whole fruit extracts’ mean that we can now deliver all of the benefits of the Queen Garnet Plum to industries we’d never been able to assist in the past.”

This development marks a shift for the company, into the supply of high value ingredients, based on the employment of cellular extraction and other concentration protocols. Nutrafuit’s partnering with Native Extracts marks the beginning of the company’s collaboration across wider industries, it says.

“Apart from all of the great uses we’re finding out about in the wellness and beauty space, we now understand that the health benefits opportunities are far beyond what we have originally thought when we first started to look at the Queen Garnet Plum,” said Couch.

The product reportedly went through a trialling process of R&D design, testing six different protocols across multiple extraction processes and extractant mediums, in collaboration with multiple university laboratories.

Lisa Carroll, MD at Native Extracts, said: “We narrowed the first phase of commercialisation to two variants specific to topical and ingestible applications. And have further concepts to leverage this fruits’ potential.

“We can now supply this species in formats for topical and ingestible formulations. It’s already in trials for skincare applications and moving to hair care and oral care projects next.”

The product is now available from Nutrafruit and is exclusively manufactured by Native Extracts.
