Calgee's new packaging saves 240kg of petrochemical materials, a 70% reduction in reliance on virgin fossil fuel materials
Omega-3 supplement provider Calgee has announced the introduction of carbon-negative, plant-based, 100% recyclable packaging. Calgee’s new pouches are made from plant-based plastic derived from sugarcane versus fossil fuels.
Made from renewable resources, the new, easily re-sealable pouch packaging has a carbon-negative production process, removing more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere than it emits. Calgee’s initial packaging run generated a negative carbon footprint of 31 kg, equal to 604 party balloons worth of Co2, after considering production and logistics emissions. The new packaging saves 240kg of petrochemical materials, a 70% reduction in reliance on virgin fossil fuel materials.
100% Vegan Certified, Calgee’s Omega-3 supplements are non-GMO, 3rd party lab-tested, gluten-free, and made in the United States with the highest quality ingredients and no carrageenan. Each serving provides 450mg EPA and DHA in a single, sustainable, and fish-free source.
According to a press release, "sustainability is baked into every step of Calgee’s manufacturing process, beginning with Life’s Omega, the only single-sourced and unblended DHA and EHA algae oil."
Using proprietary extraction methods, algae is grown in a controlled indoor environment with no added chemicals or toxins. This results in a minimal environmental footprint.
The Benefits of Omega 3: With a mountain of scientific research backing their benefits, Omega-3s are one of the most important nutrients we can supplement. Most people don’t get enough Omega-3s naturally from a balanced diet. And because they primarily come from fish, this is especially true for vegans and vegetarians.
Calgee's mission is to create the world’s most sustainable and eco-friendly health products. The company is "committed to people and the planet first using only the highest quality premium ingredients."
