FutureCeuticals' vitAlign outperforms vitamin C as an antioxidant, study finds

Published: 6-Jun-2025

The polyphenol blend decreased oxidative stress better than vitamin C at a 20x lower dose, suggesting its potential as a healthy ageing/cellular wellness ingredient

A novel study published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences has found that FutureCeuticals' healthy ageing-focused polyphenol blend, vitAlign, can restore cellular health.

The nutraceutical was also found to promote a healthy immune response.

These results highlight vitAlign's potential to ameliorate cellular function, while addressing metabolic imbalances associated with immune stressors such as seasonal colds.

To assess the efficacy of the vitAlign, researchers randomised adults aged between 40 and 55 to either 50mg of the ingredient or a 1000mg dose of vitamin C.

All participants involved in this trial were recovering from a moderate case of COVID-19, as defined by CDC guidelines.

They then looked at how supplementation with vitAlign could impact key markers of immune and cellular health, including oxidative stress, nitric oxide levels, and more.

Results showed that those given vitAlign experienced a significant reduction in reactive oxygen species (ROS) production in the mitochondria, as well as through the NOX2 and iNOS pathways.

Daily supplementation with vitAlign also increased level of bioavailable nitric oxide, suggesting the ingredient's potential to support endothelial function and cardiovascular health.

The effects of vitAlign were seen as quickly as 30 minutes, and lasted up to three hours.

Interestingly, vitamin C was administered at 20x the dose, and did not demonstrate comparable antioxidant activity.

"These findings build on over a decade of published clinical research establishing vitAlign as a significant cellular health innovation, now extended directly to immune function," said J. Randal Wexler, FutureCeuticals' General Counsel and Vice President of R&D.

"Previously, we've shown that vitAlign improves cellular energy efficiency and helps restore metabolic balance, both acutely and over time."

"These new results, which compare favorably to a well-known antioxidant like Vitamin C, reinforce vitAlign's potential as a multi-faceted phytonutrient formula, providing broad support for healthy ageing, cardiovascular health and immune function," he concluded.
