Father of Ubiquinol Research to headline Global Mitochondrial Health Summit

Internationally respected Japanese scientist Dr Kazunori Hosoe — widely regarded as the "Father of Ubiquinol Research" — is set to address healthcare professionals at the inaugural Global Mitochondrial Health Summit in Sydney on 26 June 2026

For more than five decades, Dr Hosoe has been a leading figure in CoQ10 and mitochondrial research, helping shape scientific understanding of how cellular energy production influences human health.

His groundbreaking work was instrumental in shifting focus from conventional CoQ10 to Ubiquinol — the active antioxidant and more bioavailable form, found naturally in approximately 96% of circulating CoQ10 in the human body.

Dr Hosoe's research established key differences between CoQ10 and Ubiquinol, including bioequivalence, bioavailability and Ubiquinol's essential role in mitochondrial support.

His safety and stability assessments, conducted alongside the Kaneka research team, have underpinned more than 45 years of research and the development of the multi-award-winning Kaneka Ubiquinol, produced via patented yeast fermentation and sold globally.

"Mitochondrial health has evolved from a specialised area of cellular biology into a foundational consideration in modern healthcare," said Dr Hosoe.

"Clinicians are increasingly recognising the importance of Ubiquinol in mitochondrial function across cardiovascular, women's metabolic and cognitive health, particularly for ageing individuals."

The CPD-accredited Summit will bring together an international faculty spanning pharmacy, cardiology, women's health, genetics and integrative medicine.
