Clasado Biosciences has raised more than £1500 for education charity Working Options in Education.
As part of the ‘Bridge the Gap’ initiative from September, the team at Clasado covered a combined distance of 4799 miles by walking, running, cycling and equivalent exercise.
The team surpassed its original target distance of 4655 miles, the distance between the company’s headquarters in Reading, UK, and the base of North American Sales Director in Denver, Colorado, USA. It also exceeded its fundraising target.
Working Options helps young people reach their potential by providing free employability and life skills programmes to schools and colleges, as well as online. During the pandemic, Working Options has delivered employability and life skills workshop sessions virtually. The initiative has engaged with 9,000 students during this time, around 60% of whom are from areas of high deprivation.
Per Rehné, CEO at Clasado, commented: “We are proud to have beaten our targets both in terms of distance and funding raised for this fantastic charity. The core drive of Working Options is making learning and development opportunities readily accessible and available, a cause very close to our hearts.
“Over the 2019-2020 academic year, despite the challenges, Working Options carried out a total of 124 virtual sessions for young people looking to arm themselves with the skills needed to move from education to employment. Our team was delighted to play its part in supporting this goal. While it certainly wasn’t easy – particularly as the weather turned colder – it was extremely rewarding to support Working Options and raise a substantial amount in the process.”
Lauren Monk, Head of Operations at Working Options, added: “It’s with the incredible support of businesses like Clasado Biosciences that we’re able to continue reaching out to educate and inspire the next generation. Through the pandemic we have unfortunately postponed fundraising events that help fund our critical work with young people, which is why it’s more important than ever that businesses get involved. By taking on our Bridge the Gap challenge, surpassing the target and raising considerable donations in the process, the Clasado team is helping us to continue providing students with the tools to fulfil their potential, for which we are hugely grateful.”
