Prebiotic ingredient developer Clasado Biosciences has appointed David Mharakurwa to the position of Director of Sales APAC & EMEA.
The recently created role will involve supplying the company's Bimuno ingredient to brands and formulators across the Asian, Middle East and African markets.
Mharakurwa brings more than 12 years of experience in the dairy ingredient industry, holding sales roles with Fonterra, Agropur and Milk Specialties Global.
Dr Frederic Narbel, VP B2B Sales at Clasado, said: “We are delighted to welcome David to our growing commercial team. Global appetite for prebiotic ingredients is on the up, growing at around 12% CAGR. Our business is in an extremely strong position with Bimuno, the most studied prebiotic of its kind. We are now increasing our global reach into the APAC and EMEA markets, which is a natural evolution of our commercial strategy.
“David is a fantastic fit for our team, with experience in communicating strong scientific evidence to existing and potential partners. EMEA and APAC are regions with significant growth potential in prebiotics, which puts strong commercial opportunity on the table for brands. We look forward to seeing David make his mark on the business and join us on our journey.”
The announcement follows the appointment of Doug King as Senior Sales Manager for North America and the announcement of a new partnership with distributor Pathway International, which will see Bimuno available to formulators in Australia and New Zealand for the first time.
Mharakurwa added: “I am delighted to join the Clasado team and bring its award-winning prebiotic ingredient to the APAC and EMEA regions. Bolstered by an engaged and proactive health and wellbeing audience, alongside stronger interest in scientifically backed solutions, the regions are seeing massive growth in its health and nutrition segments. I am excited to expand the business, communicate the studies behind Bimuno and support new customers with the supply of a truly world-beating prebiotic ingredient.”
